Lode Runner is a 2D puzzle-platform game created by Doug Smith and released in 1983 by Broderbund. Its gameplay principles are similar to those of the 1980s game Space Panic. The player takes control of a character who must gather all of the gold pieces on a level and make it to the end while being pursued by a swarm of foes.
